Police released additional details after the fatal attack in a multi‑unit building in Witten, North Rhine‑Westphalia. Authorities said on Saturday afternoon that a 40‑year‑old man allegedly stabbed his 38‑year‑old wife and their two children with a knife earlier in the morning.
The incident followed a domestic dispute that spilled onto the street. Emergency services were called around 10:30 a.m. Despite immediate medical efforts, a 13‑year‑old boy died at the scene. His nine‑year‑old sister and his mother were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect has been arrested. To investigate the case, the Bochum police headquarters has established a murder commission under the direction of the public prosecutor’s office. Investigators are currently unable to disclose the motive behind the crime.
