51% of Germans Agree

A recent survey conducted by Forsa, commissioned by Visa, reveals a largely positive perception of artificial intelligence (AI) among German citizens. The study, which polled approximately 1,000 individuals, indicates that 51% believe AI is making their daily lives easier.

Three-quarters of respondents consider AI to be useful, with a significant proportion willing to delegate specific tasks to the technology. Half of those surveyed expressed a willingness to allow AI to manage their online shopping, while 29% would entrust it with grocery shopping and 14% with purchasing clothing. Furthermore, 28% feel comfortable with the prospect of AI controlling a vehicle, a sentiment more prevalent among those under 35 (37%).

Reliability (53%), time-saving capabilities (50%) and safety (49%) emerged as the most valued aspects of AI usage. Speed (38%) and personalized recommendations (37%) were also deemed important, while creativity (23%) and entertainment value (8%) ranked lower in perceived benefits.

Despite the general enthusiasm, the study highlights areas of concern. Only 16% of respondents consider AI to be secure and just 15% view it as technically mature. Tobias Czekalla, Visa’s Germany CEO, commented on the findings, stating that widespread adoption hinges on maintaining user control and ensuring adherence to clear guidelines for AI operation.
