Following Tuesday’s helicopter crash in Grimma, Saxony, the body of the third missing crew member was recovered on Thursday.
“Our fears have now become a sad certainty; the death of the third crew member fills the entire German Armed Forces and me with deep sorrow” stated Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. He confirmed that the incident resulted in the loss of a female soldier and two male soldiers while on duty.
Recovery operations at the crash site remain ongoing two days after the accident and have not yet been completed. Minister Pistorius appealed for continued discretion and restraint near the site to ensure the work of the remaining emergency personnel is not disrupted.
