German Sales Up 75% Since 2019

Demand for air conditioning units in Germany has risen significantly over the past five years, according to data released Tuesday by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). Domestic production increased by 75.1 percent, climbing from 181,000 units in 2019 to approximately 317,000 in 2024. The production value rose by 34.4 percent over the same period, reaching 1.5 billion euros – the highest level in the past five years.

Imports also experienced substantial growth, increasing in value by 48.2 percent since 2019 to 949 million euros. Italy was the primary country of origin in 2024, accounting for 25.0 percent of imports (237 million euros), followed by China with 13.7 percent (130 million euros) and Sweden with 10.4 percent (98 million euros). Imports reached a previous high of 957 million euros in 2023.

Conversely, exports of air conditioning units saw a slight decrease of 2.8 percent, totaling 713 million euros. It is important to note that the statistics do not include air conditioning units for motor vehicles or component parts.
