Germany’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt conducted a visit to the Jewish community in Halle (Saale) on Thursday as part of a regional tour. The visit, occurring nearly six years after the terrorist attack on the city’s synagogue, focused on the security of Jewish institutions and reportedly addressed the increasing number of antisemitic incidents occurring nationally.

Minister Dobrindt was welcomed by Max Privorozki, Chairman of the Jewish Community of Halle. Also in attendance were Reiner Haseloff, Minister-President of Saxony-Anhalt and Sven Schulze, Chairman of the CDU party for Saxony-Anhalt and the state’s Minister of Economic Affairs.

Following the stop in Halle, Minister Dobrindt intends to continue his regional tour with planned visits to further locations within Saxony-Anhalt, as well as in the state of Lower Saxony.
