Zelenskyy to Visit Washington D.C. – Ukraine Aid Focus

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to Washington D.C. on Monday, following a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy announced Saturday.

The planned meeting will focus on “all details regarding the cessation of killings and the war” according to a statement released by the Ukrainian President’s office. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for the invitation.

During the telephone conversation, President Trump initially briefed Zelenskyy on the content of his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Subsequently, European leaders joined the discussion. Consistent with statements from both Trump and Putin, Zelenskyy did not disclose specific details or potential agreements reached.

“We support President Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia” Zelenskyy stated. He emphasized the importance of European involvement “at every stage” to collaborate with the U.S. in establishing “reliable security guarantees”. Discussions also included “positive signals” from the U.S. side regarding potential contributions to ensuring Ukraine’s security, he added.
