A fatal traffic collision occurred in the early hours of Saturday on the L 213 country road between Zweibrücken-Mörsbach and Homburg-Kirrberg, claiming the lives of a 21-year-old male driver and his 21-year-old passenger. This was confirmed by the Homburg Police Inspectorate.
Preliminary investigations indicate the driver had previously attempted to evade a police check conducted by officers in Zweibrücken.
The vehicle reportedly left the roadway to the left while navigating a right-hand curve, breached a guardrail and collided with a tree. Both occupants sustained fatal injuries as a result of the impact.
The accident site remains fully closed to facilitate investigation and the road is anticipated to remain closed until the afternoon.
The Saarbrücken Public Prosecutor’s Office has commissioned an expert to reconstruct the events leading to the collision and the investigation is in its initial stages.
