ECB & US Inflation in Focus

30 AM in the Frankfurt Stock Exchange hall.. This represents a 0.3 percent decrease compared to the previous day’s closing value.

Investor attention is currently focused on the European Central Bank’s (ECB) interest rate decision, scheduled for release at 2:15 PM. Market expectations point towards a “rate pause” suggesting the central bank will maintain the current benchmark interest rate. According to Thomas Altmann from QC Partners, the future trajectory of ECB policy will be the key factor influencing market sentiment. Uncertainty remains regarding whether the low point in interest rates has been reached or whether further reductions are likely in the first half of 2026. Furthermore, ECB President Lagarde is expected to address the ongoing economic situation in France.

Thirty minutes after the ECB announcement, fresh data concerning US inflation will be published at 2:30 PM. An increase in US inflation could potentially impact the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision in the coming week, bringing the possibility of further surprises as a result of recent trade policies implemented by US President Trump.

The Euro was slightly weaker against the US dollar on Thursday morning, trading at USD 1.1691, equivalent to EUR 0.8554 per dollar.
