German MP Krah Loses Immunity in Parliament Vote

The Bundestag, Germany’s federal parliament, has voted to lift the immunity of AfD (Alternative for Germany) parliamentarian Maximilian Krah. The decision, taken unanimously without a formal debate, occurred on Thursday during discussions regarding the streamlining of administrative processes within the care sector. No members abstained from the vote.

The parliamentary committee responsible for electoral oversight, immunity and procedural matters had previously issued a recommendation supporting the move. This action authorizes the enforcement of judicial warrants allowing searches and seizures related to Krah.

Krah has been facing allegations for several months pertaining to bribery as a Member of the European Parliament and money laundering in connection with payments originating from China. A former staff member of Krah’s in the European Parliament is also currently under investigation on suspicion of espionage, accused of allegedly providing information to Chinese intelligence services.
