Leverkusen Wins Despite Being Down a Man Against Frankfurt!

Bayer Leverkusen secured a vital home victory against Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday evening, concluding the Bundesliga match with a 3-1 scoreline.

The hosts took an early lead, with Alex Grimaldo converting a direct free kick in the 10th minute. Patrik Schick extended Bayer Leverkusen’s advantage just before halftime, successfully converting a penalty awarded in the fourth minute of added time.

Frankfurt demonstrated improved performance after the interval and managed to narrow the deficit in the 52nd minute, with Can Uzun heading in from a corner.

Despite playing with a numerical disadvantage for over half an hour following Robert Andrich’s red card in the 59th minute, Bayer Leverkusen’s defense held firm. Ezequiel Fernández received a subsequent red card late in the match, further complicating matters for the visitors. Frankfurt pressed for an equalizer but were repeatedly thwarted by a resilient Bayer Leverkusen defense and the impressive goalkeeping of Mark Flekken.

Grimaldo added a final goal in the 8th minute of added time to seal the victory for Leverkusen. The win marks an important start to the season for Leverkusen under the debut of manager Kasper Hjulmand, while Frankfurt suffered their first league defeat of the campaign.
