A compelling dialogue between German Minister of State for Culture and Media, Wolfram Weimer and entertainer Jan Böhmermann is scheduled for October 8th at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin. Sources within the governing coalition have indicated the discussion will center, in part, on the influence of technology corporations.
The event, set to begin at 8:30 PM, follows a recent public exchange between Weimer and Böhmermann. Weimer, in a recent contribution to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, emphasized the importance of broadening the boundaries of what can be said, explored and portrayed, a statement that drew critical commentary from Böhmermann.
The debate will take place during the period of Böhmermann’s exhibition, “The Possibility of Unreason” which runs from September 27th to October 19th. This exhibition, conceived and produced in collaboration with the team behind his television program, ZDF Magazin Royale, explores themes of societal critique and intellectual freedom. The Haus der Kulturen der Welt is expected to generate significant public interest with this dual event.
