Demand for personal bunkers is surging across Germany, fueled by heightened geopolitical tensions and recent security incidents.
BSSD Defence, a manufacturer specializing in protective structures, reports a 50% increase in inquiries since the beginning of the year. According to company CEO Mario Piejde, the rising interest isn’t solely from individual citizens; a significant portion – more than half – originates from businesses and property owners. These companies are seeking to construct bunkers on their premises to safeguard their employees.
Landlords are also expressing interest in providing shelter for their tenants. Piejde attributes this spike to recent provocations involving Russian military drones over Polish airspace. He stated that these events have driven home the seriousness of the current global climate.
The Deutsche Schutzraum-Zentrum (German Shelter Center) in Munich has corroborated this trend, confirming a substantial increase in demand for consultation regarding small bunkers. A spokesperson for the center noted a marked rise in appointment requests, particularly following the events in Poland. The rise in interest reflects a growing awareness and concern among individuals and organizations seeking enhanced security measures in response to evolving geopolitical circumstances.
