Drone Sightings Spark Security Fears in Copenhagen

The Danish government has declared that the drone sightings at Copenhagen Airport constitute a deliberate attack, marking what Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described as “the most serious incident to date affecting Denmark’s critical infrastructure.

The incidents, which also impacted operations at Oslo Airport in Norway, led to a four-hour closure of both airports on Tuesday. This disruption resulted in the diversion of numerous flights and affected over 20,000 passengers. Air traffic has since resumed.

While the motives behind the drone flights remain undetermined, Danish authorities are investigating the event and believe a “capable actor” is responsible for orchestrating the operation. The nature of this actor and their potential objectives are currently under investigation. Preliminary assessments suggest a degree of planning and technical expertise was involved.
