The sustainability of Germany’s statutory health insurance system is facing mounting pressure, prompting stark warnings from within the sector. Jens Baas, CEO of the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), has cautioned that contributions for those insured under the public system are poised for a significant and potentially unsustainable rise in the coming years.
Baas’s comments, delivered to “Bild am Sonntag”, directly question the financial viability of the current model, raising concerns about the ability of citizens to absorb further increases. Definitely not.
