Konstantin von Notz, parliamentary group deputy and member of the Parliamentary Control Committee (PKGr), is spearheading the demand for regular, detailed intelligence reports, arguing that the current security landscape necessitates a shift in reporting practices.
Speaking to Politico, von Notz emphasized the severity of the situation, characterizing it as a “hybrid war” against Germany. He believes that failing to adequately inform the public about the nature and scope of these threats risks undermining national resilience. “We need a monthly intelligence report on hybrid attacks against Germany” he stated, contending that such regular reporting is crucial for cultivating a realistic understanding of the risks among the German populace.
The push for greater transparency follows recent warnings from intelligence agencies regarding Russia’s evolving tactics, which extend far beyond conventional warfare. Von Notz specifically cautioned against a “whole bouquet of attack vectors” ranging from sophisticated disinformation campaigns and targeted propaganda to the increasingly common use of drone incursions and potential assaults on critical infrastructure.
