Icy Rain in the East, Heavy Snowfall Threatens the South..

The German Meteorological Service has extended its severe weather warning to large parts of Germany. The service warned on Sunday evening that slick rain is expected across the east and northeast, affecting Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony, and now also Saxony‑Anhalt. Road and rail traffic could become hazardous, and in the northeast there is a risk of heavy ice build‑up on infrastructure and vegetation-a so‑called “ice crash”.

In addition, forecasters now warn of heavy snowfall in Baden‑Württemberg and Bavaria. This could severely disrupt road traffic and public transport, and there is a danger that trees will collapse under the snow load.

The warning is currently in effect for the night into Monday and until the morning, though it may be extended if conditions warrant.
