Rhineland‑Palatinate premier Alexander Schweitzer, a member of the SPD, has urged federal interior minister Alexander Dobrindt of the CSU to keep the contested U.S. software Palantir off the national stage. In a Tuesday interview with the Rheinische Post, Schweitzer stressed that German sovereignty-and in particular data sovereignty-must come first. He said his state chose not to use Palantir and that this decision did not hamper its effectiveness. Schweitzer added that Rhineland‑Palatinate’s approach could serve as a model for other German states already employing Palantir, for example for police data. He warned that Palantir should never be used by the federal government. Dobrindt had left the issue undecided until recently.
