A letter from Bundestag Deputy President Omid Nouripour to the parliamentary building commission explains that the handover of the office spaces in the expansion wing of the Marie‑Elisabeth‑Lüders‑Haus will be delayed again. The responsible federal agency, the Federal Office for Building and Spatial Planning (BBR), has now set a move‑in date for the beginning of June 2026, after an earlier expectation of the end of the first quarter. The agency says it is working diligently to meet this new deadline but has not issued any guarantee.
Nouripour blames the delay on a lack of strategic oversight and poor coordination of the building’s technical systems by the BBR. He also notes that the ministry responsible for construction has been almost invisible throughout the process. According to the letter, the project is now 13 years behind schedule – a figure he compares with the Berlin‑Brandenburg Airport, which was delayed by nine years overall.
The latest setbacks stem from problems with the technical building equipment, including issues with the electrical supply voltage, fire‑alarm and burglary‑alarm systems, and the ventilation and smoke‑extraction infrastructure.
