Following information from the dts news agency, the Commission for determining the financial needs of ARD and ZDF recommends raising the broadcast fee. Beginning on the cut‑off date of January 1 , 2027, the new contribution recommendation for the period 2025‑2028 is €18.64 per month, as stated in the 25th report that will be published on Friday. This figure is lower than the €18.94 suggested in the 24th report, but still higher than the current rate of €18.36.
With the fee left unchanged at €18.36 for 2025 and 2026, the recommendation now implies a one‑time increase of 28 cents per month for the remaining years 2027 and 2028. The expected improvements in revenues and the rise in own funds will be fully reflected in a reduction compared to the 24th‑report recommendation, which had originally been intended to take effect from January 1 , 2025.
In February 2024, the 24th report had proposed a rise to €18.94 from 2025, but because not all 16 participating countries agreed, the fee stayed at its current level.
