Bundesliga and a slide down to 14th place, the club pulled the trigger. The 1‑3 loss to Karlsruher SC is reported to have been the decisive factor, and Assistant Coach Alexander Hahn is also leaving the club.
Rapp, who had steered the team for more than four years, told Sky Sport that Holstein Kiel will always hold a special place in his heart and that he wishes the club nothing but the best. He said he believes the sporting challenges could have been overcome together, yet he remains eager to contribute from the sidelines.
The club’s management now faces the task of finding a successor quickly. The new coach will immediately confront a tough schedule: a home fixture against SV Elversberg this coming Saturday, followed by a match against Darmstadt 98. At present the squad sits in a precarious position, just a point away from the relegation‑relegation spot.
