SPD general secretary Tim Klüssendorf urged that the United States-Israel military strike be declared a violation of international law. “Based on the information we have, the attack on Iran is not backed by international law” he said to the Funke Media Group’s Thursday newspapers. “That must be made clear, together with our strong rejection of the Iranian regime’s unjust actions”.
He added that a nuanced assessment of the situation is necessary and correct. With recent developments still carrying uncertain consequences, Klüssendorf called for an urgent effort to bring all parties back to the negotiating table. “An essential plan for the day after is required” he stressed. “The Iranian people deserve the right to determine their own future”.
