On the national day of remembrance for victims of terrorist violence, Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig (SPD) promised state support for those affected. She told the “Rheinische Post” (Wednesday edition) that the day sends an unequivocal message: the state will stand permanently by the side of the victims.
Hubig said the commemoration is a call to action for everyone. It urges us to listen, to be present and to offer help. In the darkest hour a helping hand can make all the difference.
She reminded that terrorism attacks everyone, but it also strikes individuals with devastating consequences: it kills, injures, traumatizes and robs parents, children, siblings, grandparents and friends. The minister emphasized that, through the national remembrance day, we honour those who have endured extreme suffering or lost their lives because of terror.
