In January 2026, accommodation providers in Germany recorded 25.5 million overnight stays by both domestic and foreign guests. According to preliminary figures released by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday, this represents a 1.2 percent increase over the same period in January 2025.
Of those stays, domestic guests accounted for 21.2 million, up 1.3 percent, while stays by foreign visitors rose to 4.3 million, a 1.0 percent increase.
These statistics cover all accommodation establishments-hotels, guesthouses, pensions, holiday rentals and similar lodging venues, as well as campsites and other tourism‑related accommodations-each providing at least ten beds or, in the case of campsites, at least ten parking spaces.
