ARD is ending its long‑running Schlager program “Immer wieder sonntags” after more than thirty years. The final season of the show will air during the 2026 summer and conclude with a last regular episode on 31 May 2026. Two special broadcasts will follow: an extra episode on 6 September and a best‑of compilation on 13 September.
SWR’s program director, Clemens Bratzler, called the cancellation a “painful but necessary decision”. He explained that despite the show’s popularity, SWR’s financial situation forces this step. ARD program director Christine Strobl added that the money saved will be redirected toward new digital entertainment formats. Bratzler reassured that SWR remains a “strong provider of public‑broadcasting entertainment and major live experiences” even as costs rise, and that the organisation will continue developing new formats aligned with shifting media‑consumption habits.
“Immer wieder sonntags” has been broadcast live every Sunday morning during the summer months since 1995. Since 2005 the host has been Schlager star Stefan Mross, after Max Schautzer and, for a brief period, Sebastian Deyle.
