President Donald Trump has reiterated criticism of NATO’s partner countries. “Without the United States, NATO is a paper tiger” he wrote on Friday on Truth Social, adding that those allies had been unwilling to join in the effort “to prevent a nuclear‑armed Iran”.
Now that the conflict has supposedly been “militarily won” he complains that the countries now face high oil prices, yet refused to aid in opening the Strait of Hormuz. Trump claims the issue is a “simple military maneuver” that would address the sole cause of the soaring oil prices-claiming it would be easy and low‑risk. He called the NATO partners “cowards” and warned, “We will remember”.
