Nina Warken Urges Swift Deepfake Legislation to Protect Women from Digital Sexualized Violence

Nina Warken of the CDU, chair of the Frauenunion, told the “Tagesspiegel” that the gaps in criminal law dealing with digital sexualised content must be closed immediately. “The criminal‑liability gap has to be closed without delay” she said, adding that she and her colleagues will pressure to make the announced tightening of the law come fast.

Warken stressed that when people are turned into “sexualised goods” by AI, their human dignity is violated – a situation that disproportionately affects women. She described the current difficulty in prosecuting offenders as “perfidious” and warned that this injustice amounts to an additional humiliation for the affected parties.

She cautioned that amending the law alone will not suffice. “Protection must not only be on paper” she said. The Frauenunion needs more investigators and specialised units in both police and the judiciary, as well as faster legal proceedings, to effectively safeguard victims.
