In Germany the income gap between those aged over 65 and the general population is steadily widening. According to the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung” (NOZ), based on the latest data from the Federal Statistical Office, the difference in disposable annual income for the over‑65 group compared to the median of the whole society has grown markedly. In 2024 the gap was about €3,619, and by 2025 it had risen to an average of €4,066.
