In connection with an attack on Berlin’s power supply in September 2025, the police carried out city‑wide searches on Tuesday morning. According to reports from “Bild”, a total of 15 sweeps were conducted, aimed at locating evidence; no arrests or detention orders were issued.
The September 9 blaze targeted two power pylons. The ensuing outage left tens of thousands of households and businesses – notably those in the Adlershof technology park – without electricity. A statement claiming responsibility was subsequently posted on the left‑wing extremist forum “Indymedia”.
A later, more extensive incident occurred on 3 January 2026, when arson closed the southern‑western part of Berlin to power for four days. The blackout affected 45 000 homes and over 2 200 commercial premises. A declaration in the name of the left‑extremist “volcano group” was published after the attack. Whether these events are linked remains unclear.
