Greens Push for “Euro‑Eyes” Spy Network to Bolster European Security Amid Rising Threats

Konstantin von Notz, vice‑chair of the Greens’ parliamentary group, has called for a tighter partnership among European intelligence agencies in light of the tense security environment. “We need to coordinate, network and exchange information much more closely at the European level” he told “Handelsblatt” in its Thursday edition. “A primarily national‑state perspective, a too‑dogmatic silos mindset and a cacophony of security policy talk are no longer sustainable given the severe new threats”.

Von Notz proposes the creation of a joint intelligence network, naming it “Euro‑Eyes”. According to him, such an alliance-built on clear democratic safeguards and trust-could considerably boost the security of Germany and Europe. He explained that the shift in geopolitical realities means that the United States, once the most reliable and loyal partner, cannot be taken for granted anymore. “It is wise to prepare accordingly” he asserted.
