The industry association Fuels und Energie reports that there are no current shortages of petrol, diesel or heating oil in Europe or Germany. However, it warns that if a long‑term blockade of the Strait of Hormuz does not ease, global competition for the supply of crude oil and refined products could intensify, potentially disrupting Europe’s-and Germany’s-fuel supply.
Economic Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU) is said to be justified by the association’s warning. The spokesperson emphasized that maintaining Germany’s fuel supply remains the association’s primary goal.
Fuels und Energie is responsible for refineries and branded service stations across Germany.
