Greens MP Kaddor Issues No‑Stay Warning for Non‑Integrated Syrians Ahead of Syrian President’s Berlin Visit

Lamya Kaddor, a Green Party member of the Bundestag, has warned that Syrians who have not integrated into German society will have no future in the country. Speaking to the news magazine Focus before Syrian President Bashar al‑Assad’s scheduled visit to Berlin, she said:

> “Those who actively oppose our country, do not work, do not speak German, should not stay here. It is therefore, quite literally, my appeal to Syrians who have not yet integrated into Germany. Anyone who entirely refuses to integrate must naturally have no prospects in Germany”.

Kaddor also doubts that most Syrian refugees will return to their homeland. She explained:

> “A large share of those who came to Germany ten years ago now have children born here. Others arrived as children or teenagers. Many of them would hardly even know their home country. Is it really in Germany’s interest to send people who have planted roots here back home?”

While Kaddor welcomed the visit of the controversial leader, she stressed that a clear agenda must guide the discussions. “We must not give al‑Assad a red carpet. The Chancellor must address the situation of Christians, Druze, Kurds, and Alawites in Syria” she urged.

Al‑Assad is expected in Berlin on Monday. Scheduled meetings include the Federal President Frank‑Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz, after which the president will take part in a German‑Syrian business round‑table.
