The Green Party has expressed significant criticism regarding the austerity plans proposed by Health Minister Nina Warken (CDU). Janosch Dahmen, the Green faction’s spokesman on health policy in the Bundestag, told “Spiegel” that the proposals, which appear to have been hastily assembled, are “unbalanced and a real disappointment”. He criticized Minister Warken for shifting the burden of stabilization disproportionately onto employees and employers, while simultaneously failing to address expenditure issues with influential lobbying groups. The Green politician argued that this approach will not stabilize the system but will instead intensify uncertainty across the country. Dahmen added that if Warken consistently implemented the recommendations of her experts, contributions could fall by more than two percentage points in 2027, an adjustment that would offer crucial financial relief to over 75 million statutory insurance members in times of crisis.
