Fuel Prices Climb Again in Germany Despite Predicted Tax Cuts

Fuel prices across Germany are rising again. Despite seeing a slight reduction in fuel costs in recent weeks, both diesel and Super E10 are currently more expensive compared to the previous week.

According to the ADAC on Wednesday, the price for Super E10 has increased by 4.4 cents, reaching an average of €2.103 per liter. The increase is even more pronounced for diesel, which now costs €2.200 per liter on average nationwide-a jump of 7.1 cents over last week’s rate.

Looking ahead, the ADAC expects that fuel prices will only begin to gradually decrease due to the energy tax reduction taking effect on May 1st. This tax relief is set to lower prices by €16.7 per liter, though the source noted that a slight delay in the overall reduction might be possible due to the May public holiday.
