Following the failure of the earlier relief subsidy, the CDU/CSU faction is intensifying the push for a planned tax reform. Fritz Güntzler, the party’s spokesman for financial policy, stated to the “Rheinische Post” that the income tax reform must now become the central focus of policy action. He stressed that the aim is to provide real relief for large segments of the population while also creating better competitive conditions for Germany’s economy. According to the financial expert, it is essential that Germany does not fall further behind concerning growth and investment, especially while other economies are resuming momentum. This push, he concluded, represents a shared interest that must be coordinated among the federal government, the states, and the municipalities.
