Europol and Allies Launch Global Crackdown on Iranian Revolutionary Guard Propaganda Online

Security agencies across multiple countries conducted a coordinated operation, led by the European Police Agency (Europol), targeting the propaganda used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC). Europol announced that a total of 14,200 online posts linked to the IRGC were taken into account during the action. This effort was spearheaded by the EU Internet Referral Unit (EU IRU) with the goal of identifying and disrupting the group’s online presence, which the IRGC was utilizing for the spread of propaganda, the recruitment of supporters, and fundraising activities.

The operation involved 19 countries, including Germany, France, and the United States. Over synchronized phases spanning from February 13 to April 28, participating authorities collected information, vetted specific targets, and submitted joint reporting measures to various online platforms. The propaganda was disseminated in multiple languages, including Arabic, English, and Spanish. Authorities noted that the IRGC maintained its online activities by exploiting a complex network of hosting service providers across different countries. Further enabling this action, the European Union had officially designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization on February 19, 2026, allowing law enforcement agencies the legal capacity to act against its members and supporting units within the EU.
