Several people died on Tuesday following a collision between a Belgian railway train and a school bus in Buggenhout, located in the Flemish region. According to reports from the public broadcaster VRT, who cited rail operator Infrabel, emergency services were fully mobilized at the scene.
The accident happened around 8:15 a.m. at the crossing in Vierhuizen. While the exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, initial reports suggest the rail crossing was closed at the time of the incident. Approximately 100 passengers from the train were evacuated and subsequently received care at the local fire station. The precise number of fatalities was initially unclear.
