Cutting Chief Titles in Major Corporate Overhaul

The industrial conglomerate Siemens is renaming numerous leadership roles as part of a major restructuring effort. Citing industry sources, the German newspaper “Handelsblatt” reports that, under the umbrella of the new One-Tech-Company program, “Chief” titles will largely be eliminated.

The paper states that current naming conventions represent unnecessary complexity that no longer aligns with the company’s goal of developing leaner, more streamlined structures. For instance, the organization currently includes hundreds of CEOs and CFOs across various divisions and regional offices. Many of these positions, which could extend up to the executive board level, may soon disappear or be replaced predominantly by titles such as “Head of”. Siemens declined to comment on the details of these changes.

The adoption of the One-Tech-Company program marks one of the largest organizational overhauls in the company’s history. As Siemens progresses toward becoming an integrated technology giant, thousands of employees are slated to receive updated roles or job descriptions starting October 1st. One insider remarked that “Many still underestimate the actual impact [of these changes]”.
