Wolfgang Kubicki stated that should he become the party chairman, he will compel the FDP to adopt a specific reform program no later than September. Kubicki told the podcast “Machtmenschen” of the “Focus” that this program must not merely consist of “general phrases”. He emphasized the need for “very concrete concepts that people can actually debate”.
Regarding the party’s leadership, he believes the Federal Executive Board, which is set to be re-elected at the party conference in Berlin this Saturday, should assume a more active role than it currently does under his vision. The political figure argued that this body should not simply meet occasionally, “like a supervisory board”. Instead, every member of the executive board should take ownership of their own political policy areas, contributing to the party’s development and profile.
Kubicki further stipulated that an allocation of tasks should take place during the very first joint meeting. “And I will monitor that quite strictly” he added, stressing that the FDP must once again clearly demonstrate its stance on central political issues.
