Federal Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan (SPD) plans to reschedule her trip to Lebanon, which was abruptly canceled on Monday. According to the ministry spokesperson told to the dts Nachrichtenagentur on Wednesday, while internal discussions are ongoing and the overall situation is being assessed, the goal of the visit remains firmly in place. The minister intends to carry out a similar trip very soon to signal solidarity with the local situation, particularly given the recently confirmed new support commitments through United Nations organizations on the ground.
The spokesperson explained that the cancellation on Monday occurred because a “dramatic turn” in the security situation assessment took place shortly before the planned landing. An announcement by the Israeli government and the subsequent developments led to a revised security picture, prompting the decision to turn around, land in Cyprus first, and then travel back to Berlin.
