Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann expressed surprise regarding the outcome of the FDP party chairman election. She told the “Focus” podcast, “Machtmenschen” that she did not anticipate Wolfgang Kubicki receiving fewer than 60% of the vote. The FDP politician revealed that in such a spontaneous election, her personal minimum goal could have been as low as 20%.
Strack-Zimmermann noted that her opponent, Wolfgang Kubicki, was reportedly surprised that he had not been informed of her plans beforehand. She added that he was taken aback by the emergence of a woman in the race, something he had not factored into his calculations.
Looking ahead to their future collaboration, Strack-Zimmermann remained optimistic, stating that both she and Kubicki share the objective of bringing the FDP back into the Bundestag. She believes their personal relationship is strong and intact, noting that if she calls Kubicki now and suggests they grab a glass of Pinot Gris, he will almost certainly agree.
