CDA Backs Mandatory Company Pension to Secure Dignified Old Age Income

Dennis Radtke, head of the CDU employee wing, is advocating for a mandatory corporate pension scheme for all workers, lending support to an initiative proposed by DGB chairwoman Yasmin Fahimi. Speaking to newspapers from Funke Media Group, Radtke stated that moving forward, people must conceive of “the three pillars” of pensions in a more interconnected manner if they want to guarantee a retirement level where they can live with dignity-not just merely survive.

He emphasized that making occupational pension provision mandatory for everyone is a positive step. The chairman of the Christian Democratic Workforce (CDA) added that excellent functional models already exist within sectors like the chemical industry and other collective bargaining areas, which could certainly be made available to others.

This mandate aligns with Fahimi’s earlier suggestion of requiring corporate pensions as supplementary old-age security, stipulating contributions from both employers and employees. This push comes against the backdrop of a major pension reform plan adopted by the black-red governing coalition.
