Berlin Demands Full Investigation Following Murder of Putin Critic in Poland

The German government is pushing for a full investigation into the killing of Russian artist and Putin critic Semyon Skrepetsky in Poland. A spokesperson for the Foreign Office stated to the dts Nachrichtenagentur on Wednesday that the German perspective requires Polish authorities to completely investigate the incident. The spokesperson added that Germany has confidence that this investigation will take place.

While the murder of the artist has been universally condemned, the spokesperson noted that if evidence emerges suggesting that “certain state entities” were involved, it would constitute a “grave incident.” However, they stressed that they could not comment further at this time until the Polish side has carried out and communicated its investigation.

Skrepetsky was shot in broad daylight on Monday in the town of Biala Podlaska, located about 35 kilometers from the Belarusian border. Two men have been arrested in connection with the killing, though their degree of involvement remains under investigation.
