During a session that lasted late into Thursday night, the Pension Commission agreed upon approximately 30 recommendations. Although the consensus was reached by a large majority, unanimity was not achieved.
According to reports citing participants, the initial content of these recommendations was not public. The final agreement followed several specialized sessions that continued late into the night. Each recommendation was individually voted on and passed by a significant majority. Sources within the commission suggest that the 13-member expert group, which comprises professors and parliamentarians, largely backs the overall package.
The result of the majority vote is significant because Labor Minister Bärbel Bas (SPD) had previously pressed the commission to present unanimous findings. She argued that only unanimous results would allow the coalition to promptly implement the recommendations. The commission is chaired by Professor Constanze Janda and Frank-Jürgen Weise, the former head of the Federal Employment Agency.
