Severe thunderstorms are causing significant disruptions across northwestern Germany and other regions. According to the German Weather Service, the federal states of Niedersachsen and Schleswig-Holstein are particularly impacted, with Bavaria also mentioned as being affected.
These extreme weather events may have led to a variety of issues, including uprooted trees, falling roof tiles, and the flooding of streets and basements. Localized damage from lightning has also been reported as a possibility.
The current weather pattern is being influenced by a hot and humid air mass, while a complex of thunderstorms is moving from the west into northwest Germany. Although there is a possibility of increased winds while the storms shift toward the northeast, the weather service anticipates an improvement in conditions during the early morning hours.
