Katharina Dröge, the head of the Green faction, considers the proposals put forward by the Pension Commission to be significantly unbalanced. Speaking to RTL and ntv, Dröge noted that after examining all the suggestions from the commission, “I find there is a major imbalance overall.”
She pointed out the lack of measures that could have a short-term impact, arguing that while the “Boomer generation” is currently retiring, immediate answers are needed in the coming years, not something to be addressed in 2090. According to Dröge, a critical solution lies in increasing the number of skilled workers in the labor market.
This would involve enabling more people to work, particularly women with young children, who possess enormous potential and whose participation would help stabilize contribution rates. Simultaneously, she emphasized the need for an increase in labor immigration from abroad.
However, she stressed that this is an area the Union is apparently unwilling to address. Dröge concluded by stating that additional employed persons would stabilize the pension system in the short term, adding that these “measures are far, far more effective.”
