Several unions representing Ryanair pilots have expressed profound distrust toward the airline’s management. This growing skepticism stems from disciplinary proceedings that have been launched against members of the negotiation committee while collective bargaining talks were actively taking place, a German union, Cockpit, reported on Monday.
From the perspective of the pilots, this managerial action significantly undermines confidence in the fairness of the wage negotiations. Andreas Pinheiro, the head of Cockpit, stated that the union has now appointed professional negotiators and legal consultants to oversee the talks. “This is a necessary reaction to the personal strain experienced by the affected employees,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the labor negotiations with Ryanair are slated to begin shortly across several European countries. The “Ryanair Transnational Pilot Group” (RTPG), which serves as the joint representative body for the unions of Ryanair’s companies, strongly called upon Ryanair and its subsidiary Malta Air to return to high-level, fair collective bargaining discussions. The RTPG specified that sustainable agreements must be built on mutual respect, serious dialogue, and viable compromises-not through pressure or public accusations of fault.
