CDU Spokesman: Absolute Security Impossible After Fatal Violence in Stade

Following the tragic act of violence at an institution in Stade, Alexander Throm, the internal policy spokesman for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, is demanding a complete and thorough investigation into the incident. At the same time, he issued a warning against the illusion that absolute security is achievable.

Speaking to RTL and ntv, Throm stated that “absolute security,” he admitted honestly, “cannot be achieved.” Instead, he emphasized the need for authorities to look for signs earlier-to identify if there were existing indicators suggesting a potential threat from a later perpetrator-and to act with greater consistency when such signs are present.

Throm insisted that the act must be fully investigated, noting that too little is currently known regarding the perpetrator’s personal or criminal background. He called for the perpetrator to be “punished with all the severity of the law.”

The spokesman expressed profound sadness over the tragedy, remarking, “It is terrible and frightening when people go to work in the morning to help others, and then become victims of such an act. This touches me deeply.”
