Lahore Tragedy: 14 Children Killed in Roof Collapse at Pakistan Tutoring Center

Several children have died and others have been injured after the roof of a tutoring center collapsed in Lahore, northeastern Pakistan, on Tuesday. Local authorities confirmed that the incident claimed the lives of 14 children.

The Punjab Health Minister, Khawaja Imran Nazir, verified the death toll. Regarding those hurt, two children were able to be discharged after receiving initial medical care while four others remain hospitalized.

At the time of the collapse, there were over 30 children present in the building. Police stated that construction work was being carried out on the upper floor while the children were holding classes on the ground level. Investigations are currently underway, leading to the arrest of five individuals, including the building owner.

Building collapses are not uncommon occurrences in Pakistan, largely due to poor construction materials and deficient safety standards.
