A large fire swept through a ten-story residential building in Antwerp, Belgium, resulting in several deaths and injuries, according to authorities.
The incident began shortly before 10:00 AM on Wednesday in the eighth floor of the building located in the Linkeroever district. Heavy smoke poured out of the structure, significantly complicating evacuation efforts. By noon, the fire had not yet been extinguished.
The apartment block houses over 200 residents. Firefighters searched the dwellings for additional victims as the smoke spread rapidly throughout the building. Police confirmed that it was too early to determine the cause of the blaze.
