Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu via telephone on Thursday. Government spokesman Stefan Kornelius announced this later in the evening. Following the call, Kornelius stated that both men discussed the situation in Lebanon and the Palestinian areas. Merz emphasized that there should be no steps taken toward the de facto annexation of the West Bank. He also stressed the importance of the comprehensive agreement between the United States and Iran, viewing it as the best opportunity for regional stability.
